The Fostering Registered Manager - Short Course
Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, we have been unable to facilitate our ‘The Fostering Registered Manager: A Survival Toolkit’ course. Our team has been working hard to develop an online option. It has proved a challenge to provide the same depth and breadth of content as the residential 3-day course.
We have therefore concentrated on key skill areas for our Fostering Registered Manager Short Course to address any urgent training needs for those in, or training for, Senior/Registered Manager roles.
This course will be delivered virtually via Zoom over 4-morning sessions covering some of the key parts of the Fostering Registered Manager task, along with the core skills needed to be successful in the role.
The course will only be available during the current limiting period. Once we are able to continue safely, we will return to the preferred live training course: ‘The Fostering Registered Manager: A Survival Toolkit’.

Who should attend?
The course is designed to prepare those who are due to assume this demanding appointment. It also provides a revision and update programme for those who are current, more experienced Registered Managers. The course explores both practice and legislation and can help to educate and inform Responsible Individuals, Operational and Regional Managers and Principal/Senior Social Workers being prepared for promotion.
What is included in the course?
This course will be delivered online over 4 consecutive half- days, and will be limited to approximately 6 participants per session.
Candidates will develop their knowledge to further understand and enhance the skills needed to successfully carry out the role of a Registered Manager. There will be an opportunity to connect and network virtually with other fostering colleagues.
During this course, delegates will explore the following modules:
The roles and responsibilities of a Registered Manager including compliance methods.
This session will give candidates an overview of the role of a Fostering Registered Manager, a review of current regulations, and explore how candidates can ensure they remain compliant in their role.
Business Administration, Budgets and Finance
This module will equip candidates with knowledge of the legal requirements of business administration and offer an outline approach to building and managing a budget. It will also provide an overview of Finance including accounting, integrating accounting elements and the principles of accounting.
Contracting Process, Bids and Contract Management
The module will cover the complete process for building and submitting a contract bid for a fostering contract. It will explore contract regulations, bid team coordination and tools and tips to ensure that tenders are completed in accordance with best practice. Post contract submission requirements are also discussed.
HR - Performance Management.
This session will focus on Performance Management, the most frequent HR issue for fostering managers. The roles of the line manager and HR staff are reviewed. It will also explore managing difficult situations such as poor attendance and restoring performance. The session examines methods to identify, avoid and reduce the likelihood of performance issues.
The cost of this course is £450 per delegate.

Preference will be given to applicants intending to complete the entire series, however, on occasion, we do have individual slots available.
